Shekh Abdulrahman Ishaq

During a powerful Friday Khutbah at Jamia Mosque, Nairobi, the guest Imam  Sheikh Abdulrahaman Ishaq emphasized the importance of maximizing the month of Shaban as a preparation for Ramadhan. The Imam urged the congregation to engage in sincere repentance (tawbah) and self-reflection before the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan.

“If you snooze in Shaban, you lose in Ramadan,” the Imam said, stressing that Shaban is a critical time for Muslims to spiritually recharge and seek forgiveness from Allah (SWT) to ensure a fruitful and meaningful Ramadan.

He explained that Shaban holds immense significance in the Islamic calendar, as it is the month during which a person’s deeds are elevated to Allah. “Shaban is a month where all our deeds from the year are sent to Allah. It is a time to evaluate our actions, seek forgiveness, and increase our worship,” he said.

Sheikh Abdulrahaman Ishaq who is also the imam of Parklands Mosque in Nairobi encouraged the congregation to use this month to establish good habits, such as increasing voluntary prayers (nafl), reciting the Quran, and giving charity. “Ramadhan is a month of immense blessings, but its true value is unlocked when we prepare ourselves in Shaban. Use this time to cleanse your heart, mend broken relationships, and draw closer to Allah,” he advised.
